Another popular method of lubricating and smoothing out a sliding door track is to simply spray a light mineral oil directly on the track and slide it back and forth until the lubricant has been fully distributed along the track. Your sliding glass will probably have a hole on the side. Spray lubricant into the hole on the edge of the door. Look for the hole in the door over the tracks or on the inside of the door.

If you clean your sliding door tracks and rollers regularly choose a petroleum based lubricant. Works great no residue to speak of. Wipe the glass door s tracks with warm water and soap before the temperature drops. The rollers on a sliding glass door have bearings at their axles.

This is the point that needs to be lubricated and that s the reason for using a spray type lubricant. Lift the sash as high as possible and apply a light coat to the lower tracks. First wipe off any dust or debris from the tracks and then dip a paper towel into the vaseline. Place the straw attached to the lubricant into the hole and press the trigger.
